| Regent Street Association |
|
Founded in
1925 the Regent Street Association was created
to look after the interests of the retailers
and businesses in the area. The President
of the Association is Peter Haworth of NatWest,
the Vice President is Stuart Nishikawa from
Esprit and the Honorary Treasurer is Gillian
Sutch of The Langham Hotel, who are elected
each year. The Committee meet on a regular
basis, the members of which are directors
of the Association. It has representatives
from Aquascutum, Austin Reed, Burberry, Dickins
& Jones, Esprit, Hamleys, Liberty and
The Langham Hotel.
Annie Walker, as a Director and Executive
Officer, deals with the day-to-day running
of the organisation together with, Rob Sharp
whose focus is on marketing and events.
Although the Association is non-political,
it does lobby on behalf of its members to
both central and local government on crucial
issues as security, transport planning and
environment.
The Association is represented on various
committees and consultative groups. Annie
Walker is an observer on the board of the
New West End Company. The Association works
closely with many tourist organisations including
British Incoming Tourists Association, Visit
London and Visit Britain. |
